PGH Klingende-Täler zwota sachsen Melodica Monika [accordion Баянита], 1960s-1970s, made in Germany

Link: melodicaworld

You are bidding on an extremely rare type of melodica or blowing accordion. It is constructed like the right hand (treble) side of a small piano accordion. A wedge-shaped shell covers the side where the bellows would have been, effectively forming a sort of resonance chamber (cassotto style). There is one reed block, with two reeds for every key, tuned to the same pitch – you can blow and suck to produce the notes . This is totally unique, any other melodica is blow-only. Through the resonance chamber runs a perforated zinc air-pipe, ending in a water key. The other end is intended to connect to either a mouthpiece or a flexible tube. The reeds are mounted on 4 reed plates (not a single plate per pair as in modern instruments). The reeds are made of brass and the valve strips are plastic, so moisture from blowing is not a problem.

These instruments are made in former GDR and in general these are high quality instruments made of wood. They are really built like a small proportioned keyboard side of an accordion. They have four reed plates with one reed for inhale and another reed for exhale, and what is best, they have a removable reed block, so you can tune the reeds outside of the instrument. You can open them easily just by removing four pins that attach the cover to the body.

These are the pro’s, and there is only one con: the reed plates are made of zinc and react with water, I think it’s called zinc pest, nice word, isn’t it?

Genelec 1029A / Genelec HT205 / Genelec 8030A Active Studio Reference Monitor, 1996-2006 [January 2006], made in Finland

Powered speaker pair is the Genelec 1029 (The 1029A was in production between 1996 and 2005. It was replaced by the 8030A) and it’s twin sister the HT205. The difference being that the 1029a has XLR and TRS inputs. The HT205 has XLR and RCA. Genelec 2029a with digital audio input (The 2029A was in production between 1998 and 2005. It was replaced by the 8130A model).

The extremely compact 1029A is a powerful bi-amplified nearfield monitor system ideal for project and home studios, digital workstations, and surround sound monitoring. The monitor has a very rugged cast aluminium construction and magnetic stray field shielding as default for every single unit. Vented speaker enclosure contains an amplification unit, including an active electronic crossover, overload protection circuitry and two power amplifiers, one for each driver.

Genelec's unique Directivity Control Waveguide™ (DCW™) is used to provide excellent stereo imaging and frequency balance, even in difficult acoustic environments. Versatile room response controls allow matching of the system to its surroundings. If very large sound level and low cutoff frequency are required it can be complemented with the 7050A subwoofer.

The 1029A is very easy to set up and use, the only connections required are the mains supply and the line level input. The input is made via balanced XLR female or 1/4" jack socket connector which can also be used in parallel.

The 1029A/1091A combination is a TEC (Technical Excellence & Creativity) 1997 award winner for Studio Monitor Technology, and PAR (Pro Audio Review) Excellence award winner.
